Methylene Blue

Methylene blue is a synthetic dye with a unique ability to act as an alternative electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. At low doses, it supports ATP production even when normal electron transport is impaired. At high doses, its effects reverse — which is why dosing precision and pharmaceutical purity matter.

In a healthy mitochondrion, electrons pass through a series of protein complexes to produce ATP. When these complexes are damaged or inefficient — through aging, toxins, or metabolic stress — energy output suffers. Methylene blue can bypass certain complexes and deliver electrons directly, helping maintain ATP production under suboptimal conditions.

Methylene blue exhibits a hormetic dose-response: low doses (0.5–4 mg) are associated with supportive effects, while higher doses can act as pro-oxidants. This makes precision dosing and pharmaceutical grade non-negotiable. Industrial methylene blue may contain arsenic, cadmium, lead, and other contaminants unacceptable for internal use.

Methylene blue interacts with several medications, particularly SSRIs, SNRIs, and MAOIs, due to its MAO-inhibiting activity. Consult your physician before use if you take any prescription medication. Do not exceed recommended dose.
